WHAT IS THE TOPIC?
The topic of this year’s forum is “The Rapid Rise of Fluid Work: Implications for Talent Management”. Experts agree that work within an organization is becoming more fluid, as jobs are deconstructed and reinvented, permanent employees are offered inside gigs, work is highly automated and less dependent from the company's physical location (proliferating growth in fully remote, hybrid, and on-site work modes), and there is more reliance on outside workforce (i.e., freelancers, gig workers, paid-crowdsourced workers, etc.). This rapid growth in fluid work has started before the pandemic and will undoubtedly continue well into the future. There are two major reasons behind this trend. First, the global health crisis has hastened the shift from traditional, hierarchical organization to a more “fluid ecosystem” driven by agility, adaptability, and a limited need for a physical location. Second, an increasing proportion of the workforce prefer job roles that offer flexibility, variety, and fewer constraints. This Forum will be dedicated to fluid work and its implications for talent management.
